Halloween stuff

Well, after that last post I figured I should actually try something Halloween themed. She's a witch I guess! The octopus on a stick I'm fairly sure is an item from WoW, but I don't entirely remember. It's simply what scribbles became. The octopus was meant to be enjoying a sucker while trying to mimic her hat. It wasn't impaled.. it's just sitting up there. The leg pose is odd, but it's what I stuck with. :P (added quick knee edit).

The next image was just a quick lighting test. I don't have time tonight to finish this, but I oddly had fun with this and will likely finish it.

Not Halloween related -- or is it?

Some simple, silly drawings. I'm not necessarily going to finish them, but I wanted to post something. I guess these can count as Halloween-ish.

Gasp - Artificial Neck

Here's a quick lunch drawing. I got the idea from the Mordesh race in WildStar where parts of their body are separated by ~glass containers (and I pretty much stole the glass container part). After studying the trachea a bit from the other day, I realized that it look just like a fighter pilots mask and thought it would be interesting to try to draw a character without a full neck in a non-gruesome manner. Of course, she couldn't rotate her head without neck muscles, but meh! The character kind of ended up looking like a Lara Croft... it's not meant to be, just a random character. :P

Rocken Rolls

Haven't drawn much today. Worked on a simple animation test and some bland sketches. I decided I just needed to draw something other than scribbles. So I sat down, put "I Love Rock N' Roll" by Joan Jett on repeat, and ended up with this, so far. However, I need to hit the hay now. The animation look was heavily inspired by Balak01 from DeviantArt and from looking through Glen Keane pieces today. I'd really like to be able to draw with more of an animation feel. It's still a little contorted.

A little distracted

I was working on a new project this evening and started working away form the original idea. So I'm just adding the WIPs and the quick diversion (which is up top -- Esper hurling cats). :P It gives me a reason to take a break. The WIP at the bottom was mostly just getting the body poses so I could later draw armor on top. It's the female Exile trio -- a Granok, a Mordesh, and an Orange. Their classes are ~"Medic", Spellslinger, and Esper respectively.

Mechari Warriors

I decided that I should just work out some proper, albeit sketchy, lines for this drawing. I wasn't able to get any sort of detail with flat painting and jagged brush I was using before. So here's the lines for the Mechari pair. Wait.. I just noticed that Mechari rearranges into: "I am Cher." !! (edit: swapped out for the slightly cleaner lines)

Adding edits and decided to clean up the lines some, as well as add a heavier line.

WIPs tonight

Had my brain set to snooze for half the day, but I was partially effective during the latter part of the day. Here's an early start to yet another WS project.. (!)  ..And a quick little Iron Man MvC3 Repulsor Blast pose study which I'll use for, yep, you guessed it, another WS project.

Cassian - Skeetching Banshee

This drawing had been on the back of mind for nearly half a year whenever I sat down to draw. I'm going to call this finished. It's not the idea I started with and definitely went through a stage of hodgepodginess. I think I could have made the textures of materials more distinguishable, but I've already spent too much time on this. Therefore I'm calling it good enough!

The end idea I had for the character was a Skeetch Assassin with the silly title "Skeetching Banshee". That's a Skeetch oddly mounted on her pauldron from the yet-to-be-released mmo game, WildStar. She's an evil (or less nice) human, and so that makes her a Cassian. The giant orange blip is a sword, that roundish thing on her wrist is a ??? (but it's on the wrong arm I realized), and so she's a Warrior class.

Over the times I have tried to work on this since May, I've saved WIP jpgs each, and I've ended with 146 WIP jpgs. : | It's a new record for me. Of course they're not all that different, just stages or different routes I could take. Being so indecisive on this piece was likely what was causing issues for me. I can finish a normal drawing in 1-3 hours when I have an idea or theme. ..I had an idea for this character, but I don't know why I flip-flopped through the process so much. Anyways, it's a victory for me for completing this! :D

Brain melt - Cassian

I am seriously stuck. I decided alternating pieces that I was working on and I pulled out an incomplete from 5 months ago. I don't know what I'm doing with this. I got it cleaned up some and darkened much of it. The face was given me the most trouble. I've re-drawn in many times, and it's always felt off. I cannot presently tell why. Blargh! (edit: added further progress at top).

This is the original drawing idea. It started as a pretty simple pose with practically no armor.

And this is where I left off. It felt too washed out, and so I went in and darkened stuff up and redrew the face. It was too grey.
